Men’s and women’s World Cup slalom at Zagreb’s Sljeme will take place at beginning of January 2009. Snow Queen (Snježna kraljica) is a women’s slalom race of the Alpine skiing World Cup, the event attracts approximately 15,000 to 20,000 spectators,and the total prize money fund which is given on Snow Queen is the biggest in women races which is making it the largest women’s race in the world cup.
Originally the race was named “Golden Beer”, but to honor Janica Kostelić sport victories (she was the World Cup overall champion in 2001, 2003, 2006, and is considered to be one of the greatest female skiers of all time!) the race changed it’s name to the “Snow Queen”.
